For those who don’t know, the National Purchase Diary (NPD) is a market research company that compiles stats from sales every month. More importantly, they are often used to track game sales by game publishers and developers to see how they compare to others in the industry.
And according to the November 2018 sales report, Red Dead Redemption is top of the leaderboards for games sold during last month. This takes the place of October sales leader, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Since the report doesnt really indicate sales numbers, we won’t know just yet how big a difference it is. But Black Ops 4 still pulls in as a fan favourite as the second highest selling game. Black Ops does gave a two week lead on RDR2 though, having being released earlier.
Sadly, Fallout 76 only came in fourth place, selling less than Fallout Las Vegas and Fallout 4 did after the same amount of time. This is to be expected, since the game has had such a negative reception, creating caution among buyers.
Here are the top ten bestselling games for last month:
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
- Battlefield V
- Fallout 76
- Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!
- Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
- NBA 2K19
- Madden NFL 19
- Spyro: The Reignited Trilogy
- FIFA 19
Makes me want to get Pokemon just to see what the fuss is all about.
Software sales are down by 15% compared to last year, but apparently this is due to Black Ops being launched in October as opposed to November. But despite RDR2 amazing sales, Black Ops remains the top selling game of the year so far. We will have to wait and see if that changes this month.
