Earlier this week, Celenic Earth Publications announced the release of the debut Antreya Chronicles novel, Heroes of Antreya: The Journey Begins, with a launch week sale that ends on Sunday 24 December 2017. According to Antreya Studios latest news announcement, the story in the novel features the main plot that will take place in the first part of the game.
Our creative writing team of Dean Clark and Shaun M Jooste have not only been working hard on creating the in-game plot, quests, dialogue and side missions, but have also been working on creating the first Heroes of Antreya novel. The full title is called Heroes of Antreya: The Journey Begins, and is now available on paperback and ebook.
While boasting about the game’s richness in magic, lore and fighting, there is also mention that the developers are aiming at creating a large open world that will compete with the likes of Elders Scrolls Online and the Fable series. And with still no word on where Xbox will be taking Fable 4 too, there is a big chance that Antreya Chronicles is setting their sites on something massive.
This is an ambitious undertaking, but in comparison, when have we even seen an Elder Scrolls or Fable novel / gamebook released in preparation for a game’s release? The answer: never. The creative writing team will also be writing every in-game note and book that players will come across and perhaps we will see something that we’ve been waiting for from Bethesda: the actual publishing and availability of paperback versions in real life of those volumes.
With Assassin’s Creed Origins releasing a volume of great artwork from the game, this is exactly the line of merchandise that game developers should be looking at. It celebrates the talents of the game studio’s development team and shows a sense of pride in their work.
Based on the two writers’ blogs, there are even more novels to come, and something referred to as the Great Library of Antreya. We’ll be keeping a close eye on further development of the game and any news on further merchandise.
