Indie publisher Digerati and developer Flamebait Games are delighted to share more details about the Xbox One exclusive Mixer integration featured in upcoming surreal grapple-hook adventure, Verlet Swing.
Streamers playing the Xbox One version of the vaporwave FPS (first-person swinger) over broadcasting service Mixer will be able to invite viewers to interact with the game by voting for a variety of in-game effects. When the mode is activated, anyone watching the stream is presented with a choice of effects to vote for. After a short time, the effect with the most votes is then applied to the game.
Effects range from the harmlessly cosmetic (changing the ‘rope’ colour), to the savagely sadistic (invert movement) and, of course, the beautifully bizarre (add extra meatballs). You can see some of the Mixer interactions at play in the trailer below.
In addition to the Xbox One version, Verlet Swing is also coming to PS4 on 11/12 June (NA/EU respectively), and Nintendo Switch on 14 June.
“As a team we were passionate about creating a game with super tight yet simple mechanics,” explains Flamebait Games CEO, Mattias Lindblad. “With Verlet Swing we proudly deliver an experience which we believe has a fantastic game feel.”
Already available on Steam, where it’s earned an impressive 9/10 user rating, Verlet Swing’s unique mix of swinging action and vaporwave aesthetic has attracted attention from some of gaming’s superstar streamers. Markiplier likened the game to “Spider-Man zip-zapping around New York City… but also tripping balls on LSD,” while Jacksepticeye mostly swore excitedly and screamed “Wheeeeeeeeee!” a lot.
Grab your hookshot and enter surreal fever dreams. An eccentric world where weird stuff happens. Where statues stare you down and you die on impact with any of your surroundings. That’s Verlet Swing – an abstract gauntlet that transforms into weirder and more challenging courses as you sail and soar through strange landscapes of koi fish, pizza slices and other bizarre obstacles.
