A slew of new information about April’s highly-anticipated Mortal Kombat 11 leaked Monday – including its full roster, characters in the first DLC add-on, voice casting and gameplay tweaks, if reports are to be believed.
According to Mortal Kombat supersite Test Your Might, the following classic characters will be available at launch.
Bo’ Rai Cho
Shao Kahn (Pre-Order Bonus)
So, let’s look at the bad news first. Compared to Mortal Kombat X plus all of X‘s DLC’s, at launch we’ll be losing D’Vorra, Ermac, Ferra/Torr, Jax, Kano, Mileena, Quan Chi, Shinnok, Tanya, Tremor and the horror characters Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, Predator and the Xenomorph from Alien from the base game of Mortal Kombat 11.
However, there’s so much good news! First off, Mortal Kombat 11 boasts the addition of Cyrax, Daegon, Diederik, Frost, Fujin, Geras, Jade, Kronika, Noob Saibot, Rain, Reina, Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, Sindel and Smoke at launch as well as X‘s DLC characters Bo’ Rai Cho and Goro at launch. Many of these characters appeared in X but weren’t playable, while Jade and Shao Kahn were only playable in the mobile version of X and Daegon is making his first playable appearance since Mortal Kombat: Armageddon on ps2.
Whew. Moving on from launch, how about that first DLC pack? The characters in the first DLC pack are…
I’m glad we’ll be getting Ermac back, since he was so fun in X, and I’m glad NetherRealm are continuing their tradition of bringing in iconic horror characters to play as. I personally loved the new version of It, so whether this Pennywise ends up looking like Tim Curry’s version or the new one (or something else entirely), it’s all good.
How about the rest of the news? It appears as though Battlestar Galactica and The Flash actress Katee Sackhoff will voice main antagonist Kronika, Kevin Conroy (Batman in Batman: The Animated Series and the Arkham games) will voice Scorpion and MMA fighter Ronda Rousey will portray Sonya Blade. X-Ray attacks will be altered to appear at random during fights and they will be replaced by Mortal Kombat versions of the super moves in Injustice. NetherRealm are updating their punishment of rage-quitters by turning their “Quit-talities” into Harakiris. This implies that instead of heads merely exploding, online players who dip out may have their characters commit suicide instead. Finally, Mortal Kombat 11 will also bring back Tag Team Mode, Test Your Might, Test Your Luck and The Krypt, while making alterations to character customizing and introducing Time Towers similar to Injustice 2.
So what do you think, friends? Best roster ever? Feeling betrayed by the loss of Jax and Kano? Toasty? Too good to be true? Can April come any sooner? Sound off in the comments and let us know!
