Sigi – A Fart for Melusina – PS4 Review

Sigi – A Fart for Melusina – PS4 Review

I don’t know where to start with this game to be honest. Its been published by Sometimes You and for me personally, they don’t have a fantastic track record in good games and if I’m fair, here’s another not exactly brilliant offering.

Saying all that, the game is quite fun if not short. At 159mb install size you can’t really expect much.

Sigi is a pixel graphic 8 bit sideways scrolling adventure like we were all treated to by just about every other game in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Join Knight Sigi as he runs, jumps and battles in a flatulent quest to save Melusina, the love of his life! Take down hordes of goofy enemies and crazy bosses. Earn riches, find long lost holy artefacts and make your way up to the top of Mount Stinkup

As far as the pixel graphics go, it’s lovely and works really well. It certainly brought back some good old memories for me. The animation is well detailed with backgrounds that run with your play. For an Indie title you can tell there has been time well spent in this department, however..

I just can’t stand the toilet humour within the game, its not even funny. Every time you finish a level, Sigi lets out a botty burp which gets extremely annoying. Yes, 3 year olds might find it funny, but your average gamer wont! I ended up muting the game while playing it just to avoid my own personal annoyance levels rising.

Your first automatic trophy within the game entitled ‘Under Pressure’ comes when you first meet Melusina and Sigi drops a bum cheek clap in front of her, at this point I should have turned the game off and expected the worst.

Within the notes I was given for the game, it does say from the developers that they are working hard to create an enjoyable experience for the player and they wish to learn from gamers to move forward. They have the basis for a fantastic game here, even though for most, you will complete the entire thing within an hour. One of the trophies is for a speed run for people who can finish within 30 minutes. My advice is to continue with what they are doing well which I have mentioned above, but please, drop the awful humour. It simply doesn’t work and probably never will.

With 20 levels to battle against even the newer gamers won’t find it much of a challenge, but it is fun and this is annoying me, they ruined (for me) what could have been a really good game with some lovely graphics and responsive controls that is very easy to pick up by the use of outdated humour.

I want to love this game, I really do, but its impossible. 4/10 is about the best score I could give it for my own reasons detailed above, but don’t let that put you off too much.

Gamer since the age of 2 when I was introduced to the Dragon 64. Age is just a number, in my head I will be forever young
