How would you like to Defeat Zombies with Heavy Metal?

If you could turn Mad Max into a heavy metal infused shoot ’em up then you’ve pretty much hit Double Kick Heroes right on the head. A gorgeous pixel art game powered by the heaviest of heavy metal music in a tightly packaged rhythm game taking place in the zombie and monster-infested post-apocalyptic wasteland. Trust me, it’s just as awesome as it sounds! It’s got a fun story mode, a jump into the action arcade mode and even an editor on the way where you can drop your tracks in. Not a big fan of metal? Upload your fave indie tracks!

Well, apparently French developer, Headbang Club, felt this was a great idea in their upcoming game, Double Kick Heroes. And I must say, I cannot agree more. The idea of whipping some zombie ass with heavy metal music – orgasmic. The news of this upcoming indie game hit our inbox today, and I really wanted to share with you.
Having been through several zombie games, movies and books, it’s time to have some fun with this one. It combines my love for the undead with my love for heavy music, being a guitarist myself and having had killed some zombies in Rocksmith 2014 on the Xbox 360.
According to the developer, the game was inspired by the worlds of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino (From Dusk til Dawn, Grindhouse, Machete). You will head out with your band through the wasteland, blasting zombies with your Gundillac and crushing them with the power of METAL. There will be 30 songs made available, with 18 of those being released with early access. There will be around 6 adventures to travel through, as well as a community level editor.

Lincoln, Snake, Derek, Randi and James; five metalheads who find themselves in the precarious position of surviving the zombie apocalypse. Left on their own in a world gone mad all they have to get by is their heavy metal shredding skills and the ‘Gundillac’. A high speed, upgradeable weapon on wheels powered by the almighty double kick, the Gundillac lays waste to all that chase it down.
Shoot zombies by beating the keyboard just like you’d hammer a drum kit. Sounds easy? Don’t be fooled! Players will have no choice but to master the Double Kick (a drumming technique used to speed up music) if they want to survive as they thrash to an eventual 30 unique metal tracks  composed by the legendary Elmobo. Play through Arcade Mode or venture into the Story Mode, where players just might come across some of their own Heavy Metal Heroes.

Here are some of the key features that were made available to us by Headbang Club:

  • Double kick zombies in the face with insane metal music! Can you keep up?
  • 18 face-melting metal songs (30 at final release) by legendary video game AND metal composer, Elmobo.
  • Import your own music, play community designed tracks, edit your favorite songs and share challenges!
  • A killer, Robert Rodriguez infused background story all about being weird and living for Sex, Drugs and Heavy Metal.
  • Explosions, rebels, militias, undead, road-rage, madness, apocalypse! Nothing the Gundillac can’t handle on the fury road! Hell yeah!
  • The ONLY rock and metal rhythm game on Steam!

Are you excited yet? Double Kick Heroes will be available on Steam in Early Access for Windows PC on April 11, 2018. You can follow more information from the developer’s website, Facebook Page, Twitter and Youtube.
