Woodle Tree Adventures is a 3D platformer game developed by Chubby Pixel. The game was inspired by iconic platforming games in the past such as Super Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro and many others.

The game begins with the titular character Woodle who is a small tree on a floating island. The island serves as the center that transports Woodle from one world to another. He is given the task by his father to bring water to the thirsty world by collecting fairy tears.

The visuals in this game is bright and cartoony. It blends perfectly with the light and fun atmosphere of Woodle Tree Adventures. You can definitely see the polished textures and how everything is well made. The music complements the visuals well and given the simple gameplay, I think that the game is more suited for younger children.

The gameplay in Woodle Tree Adventures is a simple 3D style platformer where the main objective on each level is to collect three water droplets scattered throughout the area and deliver them to the exit. Woodle has the ability to jump and attack enemies with a leaf, which is also upgradable and can be used for ranged attack.

The combat system is straightforward you swish enemies away using your leaf, however one hit or getting to close to the enemies would result into an instant defeat and Woodle will be teleported back to the beginning of the level. There are many times when I found it hard to identify whether a creature is an enemy or not, as stated clearly by this marshmallow, since all of them look cute and friendly to me.

All in all, Woodle Tree Adventures is definitely suited more for children rather than a mature audience, which I think is what the developer want the game to become. The simple mechanics, bright and cutesy visuals and music would make this a fun game for kids and maybe kids at heart. I wouldn’t recommend this game for players who are looking for a more challenging gameplay, you’re better off playing Crash Bandicoot or Super Mario for a more immersive experience. I would give this game a score of 6.5/10.

Woodle Tree Adventures is available on Steam for both PC and Mac for $2.99. Its sequel, Woodle Tree Adventures 2 is also available for $3.99. There is also a plan to release the game for the Nintendo Switch in the future.
